Belvedere again considers request to help fund expansion of library

The Belvedere City Council is once again being asked to contribute to the ongoing library expansion project — this time to the tune of $400,000. At its March 8 teleconference meeting, the council by show of hands again agreed to forward the issue to the city’s Finance Committee, which will weigh the Belvedere-Tiburon Library Agency’s request in light of the city’s current financial position and other funding needs. The committee will then present its findings to the council, which will make the final determination on the request later this spring as the city drafts its budget for the new fiscal year beginning July 1; the draft budget is typically approved in May and the final budget in June.
