Lynch elected to his first turn as Belvedere mayor

The Belvedere City Council has elected Vice Mayor Jim Lynch to serve as mayor for the coming year, while colleague Peter Mark was chosen to fill the role of vice mayor.

The council at its Dec. 12 teleconference meeting voted 4-0 to make the appointments. Lynch takes over for outgoing Mayor Sally Wilkinson, who was absent from the meeting.

The evening also featured the swearing in of Mark and new councilmember Jane Cooper to four-year terms; the two won a four-way race for the seats in the November election. Wilkinson, who won a two-way race for a shortened two-year term, is expected to be sworn into office in January.
