Official: Meeting Belvedere emissions goals will require individual action

It will likely take a continued combined effort of citywide and individual action to help Belvedere reach its goal of cutting greenhouse-gas emissions to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, experts say.

The City Council received an update on the city’s progress earlier this month from the Marin Climate and Energy Partnership, which collected data on city emissions from 2005 to 2019.

Belvedere in 2011 passed a Climate Action Plan with the goal of reducing overall emissions to 15 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 — a commitment that aligned with statewide goals to reduce emissions to 15 percent below 1990 levels by 2020.
