Small Tiburon ferry service emerges as player for late-night runs

Tiburon-based small-scale ferry and water-taxi service Tideline Marine Group has emerged as a candidate to take over late-night runs to and from San Francisco as negotiations continue for Blue & Gold Fleet to end local ferry service.

The development could provide a breakthrough in Blue & Gold’s talks with Golden Gate Ferry, which already provides weekday commuter service and now may take over Blue & Gold’s midday and weekend runs, and with ferry dock landlord ACV Argo Tiburon LP, whose lease with Blue & Gold requires the late-evening runs that bring diners to and from the landlord’s waterfront restaurant tenants.

Paolo Cosulich-Schwartz, spokesman for the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, which operates Golden Gate Ferry, confirmed Sept. 17 that the district recently brought in Tideline as a partner to operate the late-night service. He was not able to provide a timeline for when those negotiations might conclude.

Tideline founder and Chief Operating Officer Taylor Lewis, a Marin native, said only that “Tideline has been working with Golden Gate on solving these issues” and that the company has “a lot of plans for Tiburon,” but he declined to provide additional details.
