Tiburon to make appointment, then hold an election, for council seat

Tiburon plans to make an interim appointment to fill the Town Council vacancy created by the resignation of Vice Mayor Noah Griffin and will hold a special election in August to let voters pick a permanent replacement.

The town is accepting applications through Feb. 24 and expects to fill the interim seat by March 28, with the special election set for Aug. 29.

Whoever wins that race would serve the remainder of Griffin’s term, through November 2024.

Griffin resigned from office Jan. 27 after serving just over a year. His wife, Meredith, has been diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer, and Griffin said he wants to devote his time to her care.
