Upgrades for Belvedere playground get nod from Planning Commission
The Belvedere Planning Commission has given resounding support to a proposal to redesign the Community Park playground with what local parents say is a much-needed facelift. A schematic shows an existing swing set, play structure and seesaw would be surrounded by a new rubber track for scooters and bikes. The sandbox would be reduced in size and updated with buried sea creatures and digging tools. New elements would include a “nature play” area for young children with hollowed logs and woodchips, a wooden bench around the playground’s perimeter and colorful shade sails. The updates would cost between $205,000 and $358,900, most of which will be funded through community donations. The recommendation now goes to the Belvedere City Council.
