Arts panel sends faux-street-sign plan to Tiburon parks board for review

Fifteen faux street signs bearing positive messages would line Tiburon’s shoreline from the ferry terminal to Blackie’s Pasture under a revised public-art proposal heading to the parks board for review.

 

The Heritage & Arts Commission voted 4-2 Feb. 24 to advance an expanded, $20,000 version over a 10-sign alternative from Los Angeles-based artist Scott Froschauer, whose “Word on the Street” series uses positive affirmations instead of standard traffic commands.

 

Commissioners Nora Noguez and Trish Ferrin voted against the proposal, with Noguez questioning the project’s artistic merit and Ferrin voicing concerns about price.
