Reed school district to start livestreaming its monthly board meetings

The Reed Union School District will start livestreaming its monthly board meetings to make them more accessible to the community — though those watching remotely won’t be able to comment on meeting topics in real time, as the board won’t accept public comment via Zoom.

The board voted 4-0 at its March 10 meeting to approve the livestreaming at an estimated equipment cost of $4,000-$5,000. Member Sandeep Sahai was absent.

Superintendent Kimberly McGrath said the district aims to have the livestream operational by the board’s May 12 meeting. While people will be able to watch the meetings remotely and access a recording of any meeting they miss, they will not be able to comment through the online platform.
