Tiburon’s new artist laureate is kicking off her term with an exhibit at Town Hall that includes some special interactive experiences to celebrate San Francisco Art Week.

Christa Grenawalt, who was appointed in August to a four-year term, will her show her “Waterline” project beginning Jan. 15 in Town Hall’s upstairs gallery. An opening reception is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Jan. 20. The exhibit is set to run through February, though a finalized end date is to be confirmed.

The exhibit coincides with the third annual San Francisco Art Week, a Bay Area celebration running Jan. 17-25 with events at museums, galleries and nonprofits.

Grenawalt isn’t just displaying her work — she wants residents to contribute. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 18, she’ll offer informal tours and a hands-on project where visitors can add words, images and reflections to a large modular map installation. She’ll also be on-site 10 a.m.-noon Jan. 20-22 for residents to meet her and discuss how they want to see her support the town’s creative life.
