Two-way race set for seat on Tiburon Town Council

Two candidates are set to compete for one interim seat on the Tiburon Town Council this August.

Parks, Open Space and Trails Commissioner Isaak Nikfar will face off against resident Stefanie Cho in the Aug. 29 special election to replace Noah Griffin, who resigned in January for family reasons. The deadline to declare candidacy was June 2.

The winner of the election will serve the remaining year on his term, through November 2024, and would be eligible to run for a full four-year term on the five-member board.

While Cho is a newcomer, Nikfar previously mounted an unsuccessful campaign for the board, failing to unseat incumbents Alice Fredericks, Jack Ryan and Jon Welner last November. Nikfar has served on the parks commission since 2017; his current term runs through February 2026.

Cho, a tax adviser, served as the assistant treasurer for Fredericks’ most recent campaign.
