Marin reopens COVID-19 vaccines to ages 65-74

Effective this week, Marin and local health-care providers have expanded COVID-19 vaccination eligibility to all those ages 65 and older who live or work in the county. New appointments for Marin Public Health are posted online Thursday afternoons at coronavirus.marinhhs.org/vaccine/status, and Marin is planning to open a drive-thru vaccination site, capable of administering 1,500 shots per day, as early as Feb. 21. Meanwhile, Safeway, CVS/pharmacy and RiteAid are expected to start offering the vaccine to Marin residents in the next two weeks. For now, Kaiser Permanente will continue focusing on those ages 75 and older due to its large number of patients in that age group. Kaiser and MarinHealth Medical Center will contact patients directly when vaccines and appointments are available, and they request patients not use online or phone appointment centers to help keep lines clear. Sutter Health allows appointments on its website and by phone. The county also has its own vaccine-interest form, at coronavirus.marinhhs.org/vaccine, which has been touted as a one-stop sign-up and notification system for all health-care providers and for the uninsured.
