Mill Valley Film Festival returns Oct. 4, includes doc from Belvedere filmmaker


The 41st annual Mill Valley Film Festival will bring A-list actors, Oscar-contending feature films and emerging directors to Marin theaters this October while also featuring the work of one local resident. Award-winning Belvedere filmmaker Robin Hauser will present her new documentary, “Bias,” among more than 200 other feature and short films at the festival, which runs Oct. 4-14 at theaters including CinéArts Sequoia in Mill Valley, the Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael and the Century and Lark theaters in Larkspur. Hauser’s film, which investigates the ways in which unconscious human biases affect social, professional and cultural norms, premieres at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at CinéArts Sequoia and 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Lark Theater.
