Tiburon's 'Jack Stalwart' author aims to inspire love of adventure, reading in kids
As a kid, Tiburon's Elizabeth Hunt was a “reluctant reader” who says she found it hard to focus and was overwhelmed by complicated sentences or long paragraphs. She says she also had trouble finding action-adventure books with characters she could identify with. That desire inspired Hunt to create “Secret Agent Jack Stalwart,” a 14-book series about a 9-year-old secret agent who works for the Global Protection Force and battles evil villains to help protect some of the world’s most important treasures, from the Mona Lisa in Paris to the crown jewels in England to Aztec gold in Mexico. After the final book in the series was published in 2011, Hunt created a spinoff series, “Secret Agents Jack and Max Stalwart,” which brings Jack’s older brother into the mix. The third and fourth books in that series — “The Fate of the Irish Treasure” and “The Race for the Gold Rush Treasure” — came out earlier this month (Clara Lu photo / For The Ark)
