Caltrans expects to begin work on its 4.6-mile preventive maintenance project along Tiburon Boulevard by the end of August or in September, with the repaving of the road targeted for next spring.

Agency spokesperson Matt O’Donnell told The Ark last week construction is expected to last until July 2027, as Caltrans plans to pause work during the winter months.

The project runs from just outside Mill Valley limits to downtown Tiburon along state-owned Highway 131, which doubles as East Blithedale Avenue in Mill Valley and as Tiburon Boulevard east of the southbound Highway 101 on-ramp. Work will begin at East Blithedale’s intersection with Tower Drive and end at the downtown Tiburon roundabout near Main Street, where Tiburon Boulevard becomes Paradise Drive, O’Donnell said.

Weekly construction-planning meetings are taking place this month, O’Donnell said, and more specific information on traffic advisories will be released in the coming weeks.
