Belvedere-Tiburon Library board says more time is needed for facilities plan

Automatic doors, a redesigned service desk, more electric-vehicle chargers and a $1.45 million solar system are among the potential projects in the Belvedere-Tiburon Library’s first long-term facilities plan.

The Belvedere-Tiburon Library Agency board heard the plan Sept. 21 but did not formally adopt it after members expressed concerns that the draft was combining several separate aspects.

The sticking point was a makerspace assessment, which the plan lists among projects to take up within two years. Board member Anthony Hooker said the plan appeared to be “mixing a couple of things together.”

“That has nothing to do with maintenance and capital improvement,” Hooker said, a sentiment board Vice Chair Roxanne Richards supported.
