Belvedere turnout in November vote 79%

Belvedere residents helped drive up countywide turnout in the Nov. 8 election, with some 79.2 percent of registered voters casting ballots on races that included the city’s controversial charter-and-tax initiative, its six-candidate City Council contest and a plan to protect 110 acres of private peninsula property as open space.

Final tallies also show Belvedere broke with the rest of the peninsula, county and District 12 voters in tipping toward California Coastal Commissioner Sara Aminzadeh of Kentfield over Marin Supervisor Damon Connolly of San Rafael for state Assembly.

The Marin Registrar of Voters announced Dec. 8 it had certified the final results of the midterm election and was forwarding them to the county Board of Supervisors to formally accept them at its Dec. 13 meeting, after The Ark’s press deadline. Statewide, all results must be certified by Dec. 16.
