Mark elected to first turn as mayor of Belvedere




The Belvedere City Council has elected Vice Mayor Peter Mark to serve as mayor, while colleague Jane Cooper was chosen to fill the role of vice mayor.


The council at its Dec. 11 meeting voted unanimously to make the appointments. Mark takes over for outgoing Mayor Jim Lynch, who remains on the board.


Belvedere councilmembers rotate yearly for the positions of mayor and vice mayor, and the appointments are largely ceremonial. With the city’s council-manager system, City Manager Robert Zadnik oversees the bulk of the daily tasks as well as city staff.
