Physical therapist Adrian Carvalho says one of his most memorable clients was a woman in her 40s living with chronic pain.

“She had been to many clinics and she had injections and she tried pain pills,” Carvalho says. Nothing seemed to help. Carvalho and his team got to work.

“We did a bunch of manual therapy at first, hands-on approach,” he says. “And then we slowly started to incorporate exercise, which I think was one of the missing factors.”

Five years later, he says, the woman ran her first Olympic-distance triathlon. “She’s now a triathlete,” he says. “And this is someone who never exercised before.”

Carvalho says those results are what inspire him and his team at Marin Peak Physio, a new physical-therapy clinic that opened Jan. 3 on the Redwood Highway frontage road in Strawberry. Carvalho operates the business with co-founders David Atwood and Tim Drobnick. The three have worked together for 16 years at Golden Gate Physical Therapy on Bush Street in San Francisco.
