Picks of the Week: Bluegrass at Old St. Hilary's; Tiburon, Strawberry festivals

Bluegrass band Charlie Torch at Old St. Hilary’s: Charlie Torch will play a bluegrass concert at 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at Old St. Hilary’s Landmark in Tiburon. The group is a family affair, with fiddle player Chad Manning and his daughters Jayne Manning on guitar and Jasper Manning on mandolin, plus Tyler Stegall on banjo and Mark Schatz on bass. Tickets are $20-$25 in advance online or at the Landmarks Society office, $25-$30 at the door if not sold out. There is no parking at Old St. Hilary’s Landmark; free parking is at The Boardwalk shopping center, with a shuttle leaving from in front of Rustic Bakery beginning half an hour before the show. 415-435-1853 or landmarkssociety.com.


Two community festivals Friday night: There are two local events Aug. 21 for getting out and mingling with your neighbors. The final Friday Nights on Main of the summer runs 5:30-8:30 p.m., with Main Street in Tiburon closed to car traffic for outdoor dining from local restaurants, live music, games, a photo booth and face painting. 415-435-5633 or tiburonchamber.org. At the Strawberry Recreation Center, Community Night, 4:30-8 p.m., will have a selection of vendors, booths from community groups, food trucks and family activities including a climbing wall and bounce house. Bring low seating for a picnic on the field. No dogs are allowed. 415-383-6494 or strawberry.marin.org. Both events are free.
