Storm knocks out power to more than 1,000 in southern Tiburon

Update: Power was restored at 8:13 p.m. for southern Tiburon and is expected to be back on about noon in the Reedlands neighborhood.
More than 1,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers in Tiburon are without power amid an atmospheric river pummeling the Bay Area with massive swaths of rain, including 3.34 inches today.
Â
The outage saw 1,017 Tiburon customers — concentrated around Old Tiburon and Main Street, including Ark Row — affected due to stormy weather Tuesday afternoon.
It was first reported to PG&E about 4:10 p.m., according to its online outage tracker. One neighbor told The Ark that a tree fell on power lines behind the Belvedere-Tiburon Library, but that has not been confirmed as the cause.
It’s the second outage reported today, as a fallen tree knocked out power to 61 customers near the Reedlands neighborhood about 2:15 p.m., according to PG&E.
Â
The utility company did not have an estimated power-restoration time for either outage on its website.

The same neighborhoods and more were with a major outage just three weeks ago, when a downed power line knocked power out to 4,000 Tiburon Peninsula customers beginning Jan. 16, leaving nearly 1,000 in the Round Hill area left in the dark until early the next day.
