Petite Left Bank, the scaled-down French brasserie in downtown Tiburon, closed June 22 as its parent company abruptly shut down all seven of its Bay Area restaurants
A person who answered the phone at Petite Left Bank, granted anonymity because they were not authorized to speak for the restaurant, confirmed the closure June 22 but said it planned to serve customers that evening. An attempt to book a reservation through OpenTable for June 23 returned a message saying the restaurant had closed.
“We are deeply grateful for your support and for the opportunity to serve you,” the message read in part. “Thank you for being part of our story.”
The closure marks the second time in a month that one of downtown Tiburon’s two celebrated-chef restaurants has lost its founding operator. Petite Left Bank carried the name of Roland Passot and the nearby Bungalow Kitchen was built by Michael Mina, both chefs who have won James Beard Awards and Michelin stars. The two restaurants sit in buildings owned by the same landlord, A&C Ventures, which had sought to remake downtown as a fine-dining destination by recruiting chefs with national reputations.
