Belvedere budget funds police hiring, lifts staff pay

Belvedere’s fiscal 2026-2027 budget restores a long-deferred officer position, refills a vacant police sergeant position and raises pay across the city’s workforce after the first salary review in more than 15 years found it paying below its Marin neighbors.

 

The City Council on June 8 unanimously adopted the $14.49 million budget. The largest in city history, ahead of the July 1 start of the new fiscal year.


The same night, the council approved a two-year contract raising City Manager Robert Zadnik’s salary 12.2% to $267,700 and gave initial approval to three-year contracts for the Police Department and other employees.
