Tiburon cops get new vehicles with rumbler sirens, message boards — and in traditional black and white

Tiburon’s police vehicles will now be in traditional black and white, a change from the town’s historic white or gray with a navy side stripe and lettering. (Naomi Friedland / The Ark)

The Tiburon Police Department is getting ready to roll out two all-new vehicles with high-tech additions — including LED message boards and low-frequency sirens you can actually feel. They’ll also kick off the department’s transition to a new look: traditional black and white.

The vehicles, a 2023 all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning Special Service Vehicle purchased in December and a gas 2023 Ford Police Interceptor Utility SUV bought in January, cost about $152,000, including graphics, equipment and design fees. The funding was part of the Town Council-approved fiscal year 2023-2024 budget approved last June.
