A Tiburon Peninsula Club staff member who died suddenly earlier this month is being remembered by co-workers and residents alike as a “ray of sunshine” who left a lasting impact on the club’s community.

Brenda Diaz, 30, died Aug. 11, according to a GoFundMe page set up by a family member to help cover funeral and memorial expenses. As of Aug. 20, the page had raised more than $42,000 toward its $45,000 goal.

The San Rafael resident began working in the club’s food and beverage department in March 2021, said Lukasz Monka, the club’s general manager and chief operating officer. He said he was impressed from the get-go with Diaz’s character, calling her a pillar in the club’s cafe in part due to her “spirit behind the soul.”

“She was just an irreplaceable individual with great warmth,” Monka said.
