For the first time in nearly two decades, Tiburon resident Diane Green has her Tuesday nights free.
For the past 17 years, Green spent every Tuesday night teaching Yoga for Mind and Body at the Belvedere Community Center for The Ranch, Belvedere and Tiburon’s joint recreation agency. The class attracted a core group of about 12 students, many of whom had been with Green since the beginning and who became so in sync that they started breathing at the same time during the last resting pose of the class, shavasana.
“Having a group that practiced together that long and having that level of trust was lovely,” Green says.
And it made it that much harder for the 71-year-old to retire in February, in part due to fatigue from her arthritis and in part to give her a chance to focus on her other volunteer commitments, which include chairing art exhibits for the Belvedere-Tiburon Library, serving on the Executive Director Advisory Council for the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art and running a local art study group called Jay DeFeo Salon.
