A group of Reed Union School District students has knitted a 40-inch-by-40-inch blanket to give to new immigrants arriving in the U.S.
Rising Bel Aire Elementary School fifth graders Luna Chong, Garrett Zolfaghari-Ashcroft, Oliver Partida and Sydney Preuss and incoming Del Mar Middle School sixth grader Audrey Burstein worked on the project at the Belvedere-Tiburon Library from January to June and submitted it to the nonprofit Welcome Blanket.
Welcome Blanket collects homemade blankets, quilts and other materials and then redistributes them to refugees settling in the U.S.
Blankets collected by the project have also been exhibited in online and in-person galleries, and blanket-makers write welcome messages to immigrants.
