Belvedere parents pitch new look at Community Park

Belvedere’s Community Park playground could get a new look — including new rubber matting, shade structures and a bocce court — if a group of local parents have their way. The preliminary renderings of the playground also call for reducing or eliminating the existing sandbox, which some say is unsanitary and causes cleanup headaches for the city’s maintenance workers. A group of about 11 parents who frequent the Community Park playground with their children started sharing ideas earlier this year to improve the space. They eventually formed a resident subcommittee led by Belvedere’s Adam McNeile under the guidance of his father-in-law, Parks and Open Space Committee Chair Bryan Kemnitzer.
