Blood donors encouraged to keep giving during pandemic

In response to a looming nationwide blood shortage as thousands of donation events have been canceled amid coronavirus fears, several local blood drives will be held by appointment in April and May to gather much-need donations — and time slots are filling up quickly. While appointments have already filled up for a drive today, April 8, at the Belvedere Community Center, dozens are available for back-to-back events on April 13 and 14 at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, as well as a May 19 blood drive at the Kentfield Fire Department. All the events are organized by non-profit blood bank Vitalant, an organization that operates in Marin County and also serves as the nation’s second-largest blood collector. Visit
