Tiburon’s Cinelounge to host Bruce Dern for inaugural fundraising gala
Academy Award-nominated actor Bruce Dern will be the guest of honor Nov. 5 at the first fundraising gala for a new nonprofit supporting downtown Tiburon movie theater Cinelounge.
The evening runs 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the theater and includes a reception ahead of a screening of “Dernsie: The Amazing Life of Bruce Dern,” a documentary about his life that debuted earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival. The screening, limited to 60 people, will be followed by a conversation with Dern and “Dernsie” director Mike Mendez. Reception-only tickets are also available.
“When you have talent like this, … and they come to Tiburon, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event,” says Christian Meoli, who owns the theater with his wife, Camilla Meoli. “And (Dern) has such an amazing track record of working in the business in films for, I mean, my God, almost, over seven decades that we also thought that he was a great fit for the demographic in Tiburon.”
