Firefighters from the Tiburon Fire Protection District and other local agencies will train at the vacant Mallard Pointe apartments in Belvedere Oct. 2-12, ahead of the complex’s demolition.

Crews will practice forcible entry, victim searches, hose lays, fire attack and vertical ventilation — cutting openings in a roof to release heat and smoke — at the 1-22 Mallard Road site, according to a notice the city received from Travis Terrell, the district’s A-shift training battalion chief.

No live fire will be used. Neighbors may see more fire engines and firefighters in the area, and the activity is not an emergency, the city said.

Belvedere issued the bulkhead permit Oct. 1, the last city approval the developer needed before tearing down the 22 apartments to make way for 40 homes.
