River otters return to Belvedere Lagoon


Belvedere Lagoon residents say a group of river otters has been spotted once again cavorting in lagoon waters, a welcome testament to the health of the peninsula’s waterways. The group of three to five otters — either adults or young adults — has been seen swimming and hunting together over the past few weeks. Mounds of otter scat can be seen on lagoon docks where the animals come out to rest, groom and leave their scent and scat as calling cards for each other.
