State appeals court reverses $700k verdict in Tiburon property suit
In what it dubbed “a classic case of buyer beware,” a state appeals court has overturned a favorable ruling and more than $700,000 in costs and damages previously awarded to a property investor in a years-long dispute over his purchase of a Lyford Cove home. The appeals court reversed a 2017 Marin Superior Court decision and ruled against Peter Wilton, doing business as Mar East Realty LLC, who bought 2308 Mar East St. in 2011 from Julia Handley. Handley at the time also owned and lived in the property next door at 2310 Mar East St.
