Tiburon council OKs $186,000 for downtown visitor center

Tiburon will spend $186,000 to help the Chamber of Commerce open a planned new visitor center on Fountain Plaza. The Town Council at its Oct. 16 meeting voted 4-0, with one vacancy, to give the Tiburon Peninsula chamber $126,000 in one-time seed money to help open the downtown center, as well as another $20,000 annually for three years to help with operating costs while the center is getting on its feet. The council also authorized an amendment to the current fiscal-year budget to appropriate the $126,000 from the town’s unallocated general fund reserve.
