Land trust will ask towns for $1.1 mil for Martha purchase

The nonprofit seeking to buy the 110-acre Martha property will ask for up to $1.1 million in combined additional funding from Tiburon and Belvedere as it races to prove it has the money to preserve the site as open space.

The San Francisco-based Trust for Public Land, aided by local grassroots group Tiburon Open Space, is set to ask the Tiburon Town Council for up to $1 million at its meeting tonight, April 3, and is set to head to the Belvedere Council on April 8 to ask for a pledge of $125,000.

Belvedere’s Finance Committee unanimously recommended the latter amount after hearing a presentation from the trust and Tiburon Open Space on March 26.
