Laurie Ann Sanders Kenney

Laurie Ann Sanders Kenney, born in November 1942 at Rochester, New York, died June 21, 2025 in Tiburon, California. She grew up in Geneseo, NY, with her older brothers, Walter (deceased) and Donald, now in Houston, Texas. Her mother Katherine Coleman and father Donald Rowell died earlier. She attended Geneseo schools through 10th grade, then two years at Convent of the Sacred Heart in Rochester, NY, four years at Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY, with a BA in Philosophy, then two years at Syracuse University for a Master’s in Education, off to California, and then two years teaching in Naples, CA.

 

In 1996, she moved to San Francisco, CA, and taught first through third grade then special education for 28 years in South San Francisco, first through third grade, then special education. She then went back to school at San Francisco State University for a master’s in administration. She was a principal until her retirement in 2004.

 

She married Jack Kenney on July 31, 1993, at St. Mary’s church in Geneseo, NY. After two years in the San Francisco Marina District, they moved to Tiburon. She volunteered at St. Hilary’s Church in Tiburon for many activities, among them being lector, associates, Dante Club, and chapel time. She will be buried in Geneseo. Survived by her husband; brother Donald; nieces Kristin, Smara, Ami; and nephew Scott. Laurie Ann lived her life with faith, family, and friends. She asked for no services.
