Little League teams end their runs in third place during district brackets

The Tiburon Peninsula Little League All-Stars closed out their District 3 tournament runs last week, with both the 10-and-under and 12-and-under teams finishing third in their divisions.
The 12U team, the club’s Little League division, ended at 5-3 overall. The 10U team finished 6-4.
Little League All-Stars
Tiburon carried a 5-1 record into the winners’ bracket semifinals but lost 3-1 to Mill Valley on July 8, dropping into the elimination bracket. Mill Valley scored both its runs in the first inning, one on a run-scoring double play. Ari Dodds started and allowed three runs, one earned, over 2⅔ innings, striking out two. Tiburon managed a hit each from Diego Sayle, Jackson Maunder and Henry Robinson and turned a double play.
A day later, Tiburon’s season ended with a 13-5 loss to Twin Cities on July 9. Tiburon trailed 4-0 before erupting for five runs on six hits in the third inning to take a 5-4 lead, capped by Cole Peters’ three-run home run on an 0-2 count. Twin Cities regained the lead in the bottom of the inning and put the game away with six runs in the fifth. Peters went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Tiburon finished with 10 hits. Luke Isaacson started on the mound.
Across the tournament, Dodds, Isaacson and William Dollard anchored the pitching staff, and Peters was steady behind the plate. Robinson and Troy Marsella held down the middle infield. Marsella also homered during pool play, joining Dodds and Peters with a home run in the run to the bracket.
10U All-Stars
Seeded No. 5, Tiburon won four straight elimination-bracket games before falling in the division’s final three.
The 10U team beat Ross Valley 6-5 on July 6, scoring the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. Mac Cabeal doubled home a run in the first, and Tiburon built a 4-1 lead through three before Ross Valley pulled even. Cabeal’s single knotted the game at five in the fourth. Cabeal went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Rex Davenport, Cabeal and Nick Morse each had three hits in a 12-hit game. Ryan Lambert started and struck out four over 2⅔ innings.
Tiburon beat Mill Valley 6-1 on July 7 at Boyle Park, breaking a 1-1 tie with five runs in the seventh inning on Cabeal’s three-run double. Cabeal went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Thomas Osher allowed one run over four innings, and Davenport struck out two over three scoreless innings in relief.
Tiburon then beat San Francisco National 7-2 on July 8 at Strawberry Recreation District. Davenport singled home a run in the first, and James Miller’s two-run single in the second put Tiburon ahead for good. Miller went 2-for-2 with four RBIs from the No. 9 spot, and Davenport, Tyler Adams, Miller and Morse each had two hits. Lambert struck out seven over 3⅔ innings, and Cabeal followed with 2⅓ hitless innings and four strikeouts.
The run ended with a 5-1 loss to Novato South on July 9 in Novato. Kai Jorgenson started and allowed three runs, two earned, over three innings. Tiburon managed one run.
