Palo Alto administrator hired for top job at Bel Aire Elementary School

The Reed Union School District has hired John DiCosmo, an administrator in the Palo Alto Unified School District, to serve as the new principal at Bel Aire Elementary School.

DiCosmo is set to start July 1 and will replace Lexie Cala, who is leaving to become the superintendent of the Bennett Valley Union School District in Santa Rosa. His annual salary will be $140,447, not including benefits.

“I’m really excited to get started at Bel Aire, and I can’t wait to work with everybody,” DiCosmo said in a May 17 interview.

DiCosmo, 41, is currently the assistant principal at Escondido Elementary School, a K-5 school with about 550 students, and Ohlone Elementary School, which serves about 525 K-5 students. Escondido offers a Spanish immersion program, while Ohlone offers a Mandarin immersion program.
