Peninsula Club to host 5K ‘fun run’to help 8-year-old with lymphoma

The Tiburon Peninsula Club is organizing a “spooky” 5K fun run to raise money for a local 8-year-old battling cancer.
The run-or-walk event, scheduled for 8 a.m. Oct. 19, is open to members and non-members. It will begin outside the club’s fitness center, then head down Mar West Street and across Tiburon Boulevard to the Old Rail Trail, where runners will head up a portion of the path before turning around and returning to the club. Participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes, and there will be prizes for best family and best individual outfits, club Wellness Director Rachel Harrington said.
Proceeds from the event will support Oliver Hagerman, who is fighting T-cell lymphoma, and his family, parents Emilia and Eric Hagerman and 13-year-old brother Nicholas. A separate GoFundMe to help the family pay for Oliver’s treatments had raised almost $5,700 as of Oct. 10.
