Sharks water polo takes silver at National Junior Olympics

The Tiburon Peninsula Central Marin Sharks 12U coed water-polo team captured the silver medal July 25 at the 2021 USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics in Orange County.


“The best-ever finish for any Sharks team in our club’s 12-year history. So proud of these kids,” coach Rudolf Kardos after the tough to Costa Mesa, 10-6, in the gold-medal match.


Tiburon’s Isaac Nikfar and Corte Madera’s Jakob Engberg were the team’s consistent high scorers, while Tiburon’s Ethan Wallace, the goaltender, was a wall in the net. In addition to Nikfar and Wallace, peninsula players include Cameron Axelbaum, Cian Kelly and John Watson.
