The Tiburon Peninsula Little League All-Stars open District 3 tournament play July 2, after a 3-1 pool-play finish earned the 12-and-under team the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. The club will face the winner of a July 1 game between San Francisco National and San Rafael.
Tiburon fields competitive All-Stars teams in four age divisions: 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U, officially the Little League division, which has a path through district, section, state and national tournament play to the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pa., in August. Tiburon also fields a Rookie Minors team the league designates as an “honorary” All-Star squad.
Little League All-Stars: 3-1, No. 2 seed
Tiburon opened pool play with an 8-5 win over West Marin on June 24 and an 11-2 win over San Rafael on June 26. The team lost 1-5 to San Francisco American on June 27 before closing with a 4-1 win over Twin Cities on June 28 to finish 3-1. Four teams finished pool play tied at 3-1, including Tiburon, Mill Valley, Novato South and Novato North.
Ari Dodds and Cole Peters each homered during pool play, and Dodds started three of Tiburon’s four games on the mound, striking out four in the June 24 opener. William Dollard pitched effective relief in two of those games, combining for 4⅓ scoreless innings. Tiburon trailed West Marin 5-2 on June 24 before a four-run fifth inning, capped by RBI singles from Tobey Corcoran, Peters, Henry Robinson and Dollard, put Tiburon ahead for good.
The 5:30 p.m. opener is Tiburon’s first tournament game; the No. 2 seed gave the team a bye through the July 1 opening round. Because the tournament is double-elimination, a loss would send Tiburon to the loser’s bracket rather than end its season immediately.
Tiburon’s Little League All-Stars are Ben Casey, Tobey Corcoran, Ari Dodds, William Dollard, Luke Isaacson, Troy Marsella, Jackson Maunder, Cole Peters, Henry Robinson, Diego Sayle, Christian Tate and Calum Van Pelt. The team is coached by Aaron Robinson, Kristine Dollard, Mark Marsella and Pete Casey.
11U All-Stars: 0-4, No. 11 seed
Tiburon was swept through pool play, losing all four games. The team fell 0-10 to Gallinas Valley on June 24 and 0-10 to San Francisco American on June 26, then 2-8 to Ross Valley on June 28 and 1-13 to Mill Valley on June 29.
Camden Rosoff had Tiburon’s only hit in the June 26 loss to San Francisco American and added another in the June 28 loss to Ross Valley. Patrick Kovalopened the June 29 loss with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts before Tiburon’s bullpen struggled behind him. Jack Rucker had two hits and drove in Tiburon’s only run in that game.
The 0-4 finish left Tiburon as the tournament’s No. 11 seed. The team opens tournament play at 5:30 p.m. July 1 against Novato South, the No. 6 seed, in the same double-elimination bracket.
Tiburon’s 11U All-Stars are Wesley Bean, Calder Bowse, Becket Boznanski, William Diemer, Jeffrey Dobkins, Kieran Finnerty, Hudson Hawkins, Nash Jacobsen, Patrick Koval, Camden Rosoff, Jack Rucker and Andrew Winokur. The team is coached by Jeff Dobkins, John Rucker, Pete Casey and Ryan Bowse.

It then won three straight: 11-2 over San Rafael on June 12, a 17-16 walk-off over West Marin on June 14 and 19-13 over Novato North on June 15. A 2-13 loss to Novato South on June 16 closed out pool play.
Kade Hernandez hit safely in each of Tiburon’s first four pool-play games, driving in four runs during the June 14 walk-off win over West Marin, when Tiburon trailed 7-1 after three innings before rallying to win it in the bottom of the sixth on bases-loaded walks by Presley Millard and Hernandez. Colin Johnson went 3-for-3 in that game. Cameron Kim earned the win on the mound in the June 12 victory over San Rafael, and Tyler Adams worked multiple scoreless relief innings across the stretch.
