A Tiburon couple is organizing a local Pride celebration May 31, an event they hope will lead to increased LGBTQ+ visibility in town.

Suki and Katya Skye are behind the free Tiburon Pride Picnic, set for 1-4 p.m. at Shoreline Park, featuring a live DJ, a vintage clothing vendor and tarot readings. A free after-party at Cinelounge begins at 4:30 p.m.

Attendees are asked to bring their own food to the picnic, though Caffe Acri will have ready-made picnic boxes available for purchase.

Suki Skye says she and her wife are hoping the picnic will serve as a stepping stone for a larger-scale event in 2027. She says they’ve begun some preliminary planning and hope to close Main Street for a parade and involve more local businesses.

“Really, this is just intended to be a first step toward hopefully many more pride activities in our cute little towns,” Skye says.
