Wing-foil instructor conquers Koa Kai Triple Crown

When hydrofoiler Josh Waldman hit rough, treacherous waves midway through the 40-mile Molokai to Oahu endurance race, he wasn’t sure he’d make it.

 

“All of a sudden I hit this phantom chop that took me out, and I fell,” he said.

 

It was the Paradise Cay resident’s third stand-up paddle foilboard event in eight days, the final race of the Koa Kai Triple Crown that took him across 75 miles of open ocean in the Hawaiian islands.
