Reed district will move to weeklong distance learning after holiday breaks

All three schools in the Reed Union School District will revert to full-time distance learning for one week following Thanksgiving and winter breaks, a move district officials say is aimed at limiting coronavirus exposure that could result from holiday travel. Under the new plan, announced to the district community Nov. 18, all students will distance learn Nov. 30-Dec. 4 and again Jan. 5-8, following the respective one-week Thanksgiving break and two-week winter break and Jan. 4 staff-development day. The most immediate impact of the policy is that it would delay from Nov. 30 to Dec. 7 Del Mar Middle School’s planned transition from the current hybrid model, which combines distance learning and in-person classes, to a new schedule in which students will rotate between three weeks on campus and one week remote.
