Breathtaking ‘Ring of the Nibelungen’ returns to SF Opera


The four-opera series of Richard Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelungen” is nishing its last of three runs at the San Francisco Opera — you can still catch three of the four operas that make up the cycle, starting with “Die Walküre” tonight, June 27. “Siegfried” will be performed June 29 and “Götterdämmerung” on July 1.

This is a major event for the San Francisco Opera. Festivals like this take place worldwide, including at Wagner’s own theater in Bayreuth, Germany, where there is often at least a ve-year waiting list to attend.
