Paula Marie LeRoy
Paula Marie LeRoy, 73, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 26, 2018, surrounded by her family and close friends. Paula was admired for her compassion, thoughtfulness and kindness to all. Her zest for life and celebrating everything worth celebrating formed lasting family traditions that will continue for generations.
Paula was born on March 26, 1945 to Dan and June (Feulner) Mudge in Chicago, Illinois while her father was stationed at the US Air Force Base in Foggia Italy. Paula graduated from Northern Illinois University, where she was a proud AOII sorority sister. Not long after graduation, she married the love of her life, Bill LeRoy. Together, they moved from Chicago to San Francisco while Bill served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Their mutual love of California made that move permanent, ultimately settling in the town of Tiburon in 1979. Paula was a school teacher for many years and later became an entrepreneur, founding Pension Benefit Information, a pension services company, with her husband Bill in 1982.
Paula lived a truly joy-filled life. She approached all that life had to offer with enthusiasm, creativity, and passion. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed sailing adventures with family and friends. Paula devoted much of her time, talent and treasure to causes that touched her heart. Whether it was the Arthritis Foundation, Mill Street Center, Christian Ministries, or the countless other philanthropies she was involved with throughout her life, she continually put her faith into action.
Paula was an enthusiastic sports fan who loved her Giants and 49ers and was often seen listening with one earbud to their games, even at black-tie events. She and her family were known to play a fearless domino game and her later love for Mah Jongg was infectious. She patiently taught the game to all that were willing to learn - even to her youngest grandchildren. Paula was a wonderful story-teller and excelled at the fine art of telling a good joke.
Paula created a memorable imprint on the lives of many and her family extended far beyond traditional blood lines. Known fondly as “Haha”, Paula created a legacy of selflessness, dedication, and a “you can do it” attitude that will far surpass the time she had on Earth. She is survived by her loving husband Bill LeRoy after a remarkable 52 years of marriage. She leaves behind her three children: Katy (Dan) Baroni of San Francisco, Aimee (Chris) Norwine of Belvedere, and son Mike (Katie) LeRoy of Sebastopol. The grandmother extraordinaire also leaves behind 6 adoring grandchildren. Paula is also survived by her brother Dan (Janet) Mudge and sister Sue (Ross) McDonald. She was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents Dan and June Mudge.
A celebration of her life will be held December 15th, 2018, at Hillside Church in Corte Madera at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Mill Center Homeless Center at 1385 N. Hamilton Parkway, Novato, CA 94949.
