Reed district alerts parents to confirmed case of whooping cough at Bel Aire


Reed Union School District officials are asking Bel Aire Elementary School parents to check their children’s immunizations and watch for symptoms after a confirmed case of pertussis, or whooping cough, was reported at the school. District nurse Alison Mankin sent out a notice to parents Dec. 6 warning students could have been exposed to the disease Dec. 4, meaning parents should be on alert for symptoms through Dec. 25, or 21 days after the exposure.
