Marin-based dog rescue boasts Tiburon Peninsula connections

Mitsy, a scruffy 8-pound terrier, was found last month in Bakersfield tethered outside on a 107-degree day. Thanks to dog-rescue nonprofit The Kern Project, she now spends her time lounging indoors and out at her new home in Tiburon. Mitsy is one of the hundreds of dogs rescued from kill shelters in Kern County that have found homes in Tiburon, Mill Valley, Corte Madera and other Marin County cities through The Kern Project — in part with the help of Belvedere resident Carol Lacey.
