Belvedere residents can get disaster tips and learn about volunteering at June barbecue

Belvedere residents can learn how to prepare for emergencies and find ways to volunteer with local organizations at a family-friendly barbecue set for June 15 in Community Park.

The event, which will run from noon to 2 p.m., is being organized by resident and Belvedere block captain Adam Gavzer, who last June organized the inaugural emergency-preparedness day in the park. He said this year he wanted to expand the event to bring together city and community organizations to offer information about volunteer opportunities.
