Dance, music and martial arts to highlight Asian American, Pacific Islander festival

Dance performances, taiko drumming and martial-arts demonstrations are among the activities on tap for Tiburon’s second annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival May 17.

The event, scheduled for 1-4 p.m. at Zelinsky Park behind Town Hall and the Belvedere-Tiburon Library, marks Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and is sponsored by the town’s Diversity Inclusion Task Force.

Tiburon resident Anne Marie Siu Yuan, who also organized the event last year, is co-chairing this year’s celebration with Sue Lim Yee of the Asian American Alliance of Marin.

“America is still a very multicultural country, and I think it’s just really important to celebrate all the different cultures and peoples that are here,” Siu Yuan said.
