Peninsula kicks off summer with street fest — then car show, boat show, Juneteenth and free concert

The peninsula’s summer season kicks off over the next two weekends, starting with Friday Night on Main on June 12, when lower Main Street will close to traffic for an evening of live music, children’s activities and outdoor dining.
The festivities continue Father’s Day weekend with the Tiburon Classic and Exotic Car Show, a wooden boat show, a Juneteenth celebration on Main Street and a concert in Belvedere Community Park.
The Tiburon Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will spark the summer with the first of two Friday Nights on Main, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 12. The event falls on the last day of school for the Reed Union School District. Lower Main Street will be closed to traffic for live music, children’s activities and alfresco food and drinks.
The following weekend packs in four events: a car show, a wooden boat show, a Juneteenth celebration and a Neil Diamond tribute concert.
On June 20, Tiburon will rev up for the 26th annual Tiburon Classic and Exotic Car Show, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Shoreline Park. The big draw this year will be Cadillac’s first Formula 1 race car.
June 21 is Father’s Day, and three events fill the day.
The Corinthian Yacht Club will host its annual Master Mariners Wooden Boat Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 43 Main St. Two historic boats from Spaulding Marine Center will be among those on display.
Tiburon’s Diversity Inclusion Task Force will celebrate Juneteenth from 3 to 7 p.m. on lower Main Street. The celebration will feature live jazz, hip-hop, poetry readings and speakers. Hip-Hop For Change, an Oakland-based nonprofit that works with marginalized youth to reclaim the roots of hip-hop culture, will present poetry and an interactive performance.
The peninsula will wrap up the weekend with a June 21 concert by Super Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute band, at 4 p.m. at Belvedere Community Park. The opening act will be a local rock band from Del Mar Middle School.
